Connecting to Emby

There are two ways to connect Zuno to Emby. If your Emby user is linked to an Emby Connect account (the account you use on emby.media), you can sign in with that and pick your server from a list, without needing its address. Otherwise, enter your server’s address and sign in with your Emby username and password.

Signing in with Emby Connect

1. On the welcome screen, tap Continue with Emby. To add one later, open Settings → Sources & Servers and tap Add Emby Server.
2. Enter your Emby Connect username or email and password, then tap Continue.
3. Choose your server from the list. If your account is linked to just one server, Zuno connects to it straight away.

Zuno signs you in as your own user on that server, so you see your own libraries, watch history and permissions. Your Emby Connect password isn’t saved. Zuno also remembers both your server’s home and remote addresses, so it keeps working when you’re away from home.

On Apple TV

Apple TV shows a code so you don’t have to type your password with the remote.

1. On the welcome screen, choose Continue with Emby.
2. On your phone or computer, scan the QR code or go to emby.media/pin.
3. Enter the code shown on your TV, then sign in with your Emby Connect account.
4. Your TV moves on by itself. Choose your server from the list.

Prefer to type? Choose Sign In with Password to enter your Emby Connect details on the TV instead.

Don’t see your server?

Your server only appears if your Emby user is linked to your Emby Connect account. You, or whoever runs the server, can link it in the server’s user settings on Emby. Servers you’ve been invited to as a guest are marked Guest access.

Signing in with your server address

1. On the Emby screen, choose Sign in with server address instead.
2. Enter your Server URL, for example http://192.168.1.100:8096.
   • Zuno also scans your local network and lists any servers it finds, so you can often just tap yours instead of typing the address.
   • You can leave off http://; it is added automatically. If you can’t connect, try switching between http:// and https://.
   • Include the port (8096 by default) unless you reach your server through a reverse proxy on the standard port.
3. Once Zuno finds your server, enter your username and password. Leave the password blank if your account doesn’t have one.
4. Tap Sign In.

Your credentials are stored securely in the iCloud Keychain and sync across your devices.

Choosing libraries

After signing in, your Emby libraries appear on the home screen. Which libraries you see is controlled by your Emby account’s permissions, set on the server itself.

Troubleshooting the connection

“Your Emby Connect account isn’t linked to any servers yet.” Link your Emby Connect account to your user in your server’s settings, or sign in with your server address instead.

Zuno can’t reach the server you picked. Make sure the server is running and that remote access is turned on in Emby, or sign in with your server address instead.

“Didn’t accept your Emby Connect sign-in.” Check your Emby Connect account is still linked to a user on that server.

Zuno can’t connect using the address. Double-check the URL and port, try switching between http:// and https://, and make sure your device is on the same network as the server (or that the server is reachable from where you are watching).

Behind a reverse proxy or gateway?

If your server sits behind an authentication gateway (such as Authelia or Authentik) that expects a header on each request, you can add custom headers per server. See Connecting through a secure gateway.
