Browsing & Search

Zuno pulls everything from your servers into one place. This page covers moving through your libraries, narrowing them down with filters and sorting, searching, and keeping a watchlist of things to come back to.

Browsing your libraries

Open the Search tab to find your libraries. Each one your servers offer (Movies, TV Shows, and so on) appears as a tile you can tap to browse. If you have more than one server connected, each library tile shows which server it belongs to.

Inside a library, titles are laid out as a poster grid. Scroll to load more as you go. When a library has a lot of titles, a scroll indicator appears down the side so you can flick quickly to a letter or year and jump there.

Tap any poster to open its detail page, where you can play it, mark it watched, add it to your watchlist, and see more about it. Collections open to show the titles inside them.

Sorting and filtering

Open the Sort & Filter menu (the control in the top corner of a library) to change how a library is ordered and to narrow it down. The menu icon fills in when a filter is active, so you can always tell at a glance.

Sorting

Choose from:

Title (A–Z / Z–A)
Date Added (Newest / Oldest)
Release Year (Newest / Oldest)
Rating (Highest)

To set the order every library opens with, change the Default Library Sort in Settings → Home & Interface.

Filtering

Narrow a library down by:

Unwatched only: hide anything you’ve already seen.
Genre: show a single genre.
Content Rating: show a single age rating.
Quality: filter by 8K, 4K, HD, or SD.

The genres, ratings, and qualities on offer are built from what’s actually in that library, so you only ever see options that lead somewhere. Active filters appear as chips above the grid; tap a chip to remove it, or use Clear Filters if a combination leaves nothing to show.

Search

The Search tab searches across every connected server at once. Start typing and results appear as a poster grid. When you match an episode of a show, the result is badged with the episode so you know why it turned up.

Before you type anything, the Search tab doubles as a place to explore: a Discover feed, your libraries, and browsable genre categories, including a quick shortcut to your Watchlist.

Searching beyond your library

By default, search covers the titles on your own servers. With Zuno Pro, search reaches beyond your library to find titles you don’t yet have, so you can spot what’s missing and request it.

To keep search to just your own servers, turn on My Library Only in Settings → Home & Interface. This limits both search results and the Discover feed to titles you actually have.

Natural language search

On supported devices, Zuno Pro adds Natural Language Search: instead of exact keywords, you can search in everyday phrases like “90s comedies I haven’t watched” or “films under 2 hours with Tom Hanks”, and Zuno works out what you mean. It runs entirely on your device, so nothing is sent to a server. Turn it on in Settings → Apple Intelligence. With it off, search uses standard keyword matching.

Watchlist

Add anything to your Watchlist from its detail page to keep a running list of things to watch. Your watchlist is available from its category in the Search tab, and it syncs across your devices automatically.

If you connect a Trakt, Simkl, MDBList, or Plex account, Zuno keeps your watchlist in step with theirs, so what you add in one place shows up in the other. For Trakt, Simkl, and MDBList, turn on Sync watchlist under Settings → Integrations once you have signed in.
