Zuno pulls everything from your servers into one place. This page covers the Libraries tab and how to set it up, narrowing it down with filters and sorting, searching, and keeping a watchlist of things to come back to.

The Libraries tab

The Libraries tab brings everything on your servers into a few simple views:

Movies gathers every movie library from all your connected servers.
TV Shows does the same for your TV libraries.
Any other video library, such as home videos, gets a view of its own. So does a library whose videos aren’t recognised films or shows, such as a YouTube library. These open with the newest videos first.
Each network share gets a view of its own, where you browse its folders and play videos. See Network Shares.
Collections gathers the collections from all your servers, such as film series and sets you’ve made yourself. See Collections below.

Each title appears once, even if it’s in more than one library or on more than one server. When there’s more than one copy, you choose which to play from its detail page. Its poster shows the best quality available across those copies, so a film you have in 4K is marked 4K.

To switch view, tap the view’s name at the top of the screen. On Apple TV, select it at the start of the row of buttons; on Mac, click the window title. The same menu has Edit Views at the bottom. See Edit Views.

Choosing which libraries are combined

To decide for yourself, open Settings → Sources & Servers, select a server, and set each library under Libraries Tab:

Automatic: joins Movies or TV Shows, unless its videos aren’t recognised films or shows.
Own View: always has a view of its own.
Combined: always joins Movies or TV Shows.

On Apple TV, Libraries Tab is at the bottom of Settings → Sources & Servers.

You can also do this from Edit Views. Select Movies or TV Shows and switch libraries in or out under Libraries in Movies or Libraries in TV Shows. A library with a view of its own has Combine with Movies or Combine with TV Shows instead.

Ways in

Large views use the Smart style, which opens with a row of quick ways in:

Best Unwatched: the highest-rated titles you haven’t seen yet.
New: recently added titles you haven’t watched.
A–Z: every title in alphabetical order.
Surprise Me: opens a random title from the current view and filters.
Genres: a single genre.

Each view opens on its first way in, which is Best Unwatched unless you change it. To always start on everything in title order, put A–Z first in Edit Views. Zuno keeps the way in you pick while you browse, and goes back to the first one the next time it starts.

Smaller views use the Simple style: every title in one order, with a Sort menu instead. Whichever sort you choose is where that view opens from then on. You can switch any view between Smart and Simple in Edit Views.

Pinning a view to the tab bar

If you mostly use one or two views, pin them to the tab bar or sidebar so they’re one tap away. A pinned view gets a tab of its own, which opens straight on that view and keeps its own place and filters.

To pin a view, open Edit Views, select the view and turn on Pin to Tab Bar. You can also pin views from Settings → Navigation → Add to Tab Bar, under Library Views.

A pinned view still has the menu at the top, so you can switch to another view from it. On iPhone and iPad, tap its tab again to go back to its own view, at the top.
Pinned views share the tab bar with everything else you pin, such as Up Next. iPhone has room for 3, iPad for 6, and Apple TV and Mac for 7.
If you’ve pinned all the views you use, you can unpin Libraries itself to make room. Edit Views has a switch for it under Tab Bar.
Pins follow you between your devices. If a device has no free slot, they’re listed under Pinned On Other Devices in Settings → Navigation.
To open Zuno on a pinned view, choose it as the Default Screen in Settings → Navigation. On iPhone, you can give it a shorter tab name under Labels.

Edit Views

Edit Views is where you set up the Libraries tab. Open it from the bottom of the view menu, or from Settings → Navigation → Edit Library Views.

The list shows every view. Drag views to change the order of the menu, and switch one off to hide it from the menu. Hiding a view doesn’t hide its titles from Home, and hiding a pinned view unpins it. On Apple TV, select a view and use Move Up and Move Down to change the order, and Show in View Menu to hide it.

Select a view to change how it works:

Pin to Tab Bar: gives the view a tab of its own.
Style: Smart shows ways in along the top. Simple shows the whole view in one order, with a Sort menu.
Ways In (Smart views): switch each way in on or off, and drag them into the order you want. The first one switched on is where the view opens. On Apple TV, choose where the view opens under Opens On.
Opens Sorted By (Simple views and Collections): the order the view opens in.
Libraries in Movies or Libraries in TV Shows: take a library out to give it a view of its own, which you can then pin separately.

These choices are saved to your profile and follow you to your other devices.

Setting up Libraries

The first time you open the Libraries tab on a device, Zuno offers a short setup if there’s more than one view to choose between. Every step is optional, and Skip for now keeps Zuno’s suggestions.

Group your libraries: choose which libraries join Movies or TV Shows, and which get a view of their own. This step only appears if you have more than one movie or TV library.
How do you like to browse?: Smart, Simple, or Automatic (Smart for big libraries, Simple for small ones), and which way in your views open on.
Pin to the tab bar: tick the views you want one tap away.

To run it again, open Edit Views and choose Run Setup Again.

Getting around a big library

iPhone, iPad and Mac: drag the handle that appears on the right edge as you scroll. It shows the letter, year, date or rating you’re at (depending on the sort) and the title you’ll land on.
Mac: when sorting by title, type the first letters of a title to jump to it. Use the arrow keys to move around and Return to open a title.
Apple TV: press Play/Pause, or press right from the last column, to open the quick scroller. Press up and down to move, select to jump, and left or Menu to go back. Once you’ve scrolled down, press Menu to bring the controls back.

Select any poster to open its detail page, where you can play it, mark it watched, add it to your watchlist, and see more about it.

Collections

Collections sits at the bottom of the list of views. Each card shows the collection’s own artwork, or a mix of the first few posters inside it if it has none, with the library it comes from underneath. On Jellyfin and Emby, collections belong to the whole server rather than one library, so they show the server’s name instead. Select a collection to see everything in it.

Use Sort to order collections by title or by when they were added, and Filters → Library to see one library’s collections at a time.

To hide a library from Zuno, switch it off in Settings → Sources & Servers. On Apple TV you can also show a library on Home and in Libraries, only in Libraries, or turn it off.

Sorting and filtering

Open Filters at the top of the screen (on Mac, in the toolbar) to narrow down what you’re looking at. The button changes when a filter is on, so you can tell at a glance.

Unwatched Only: hide what you’ve already watched. Best Unwatched and New already leave watched titles out, so it doesn’t appear there.
Genre: a single genre.
Content Rating: a single age rating, such as PG or 12.
Quality: 8K, 4K, HD or SD, in movie views.
Library: in Collections, one library’s collections.
Sort: change the order.
Clear Filters: back to everything.

Sorting

Title (A–Z / Z–A)
Date Added (Newest / Oldest)
Release Year (Newest / Oldest)
Rating (Highest)

In Collections, you can sort by title or by date added.

Search

The Search tab searches across every connected server at once. Start typing and results appear as a poster grid. When you match an episode of a show, the result is badged with the episode so you know why it turned up.

Before you type anything, the Search tab doubles as a place to explore: a Discover feed and browsable genre categories, including a quick shortcut to your Watchlist.

Searching beyond your library

By default, search covers the titles on your own servers. With Zuno Pro, search reaches beyond your library to find titles you don’t yet have, so you can spot what’s missing and request it.

To keep search to just your own servers, turn on My Library Only in Settings → Home & Interface. This limits both search results and the Discover feed to titles you actually have.

Natural language search

On supported devices, Zuno Pro adds Natural Language Search: instead of exact keywords, you can search in everyday phrases like “90s comedies I haven’t watched” or “films under 2 hours with Tom Hanks”, and Zuno works out what you mean. It runs entirely on your device, so nothing is sent to a server. Turn it on in Settings → Apple Intelligence. With it off, search uses standard keyword matching.

Watchlist

Add anything to your Watchlist from its detail page to keep a running list of things to watch. Your watchlist is available from its category in the Search tab, and it syncs across your devices automatically.

If you connect a Trakt, Simkl, MDBList, or Plex account, Zuno keeps your watchlist in step with theirs, so what you add in one place shows up in the other. For Trakt, Simkl, and MDBList, turn on Sync watchlist under Settings → Zuno Connect → Watch Sync once you have signed in.
