Settings & Sync

Set Zuno up on one device and most of your preferences follow you to the others. A few settings deliberately stay local, because they describe the specific device or its hardware. This page explains which is which.

Syncing uses your iCloud account, so all your devices need to be signed in to the same one.

What syncs and what stays local

Synced across your devices

These are shared over iCloud, so a change on your iPhone shows up on your iPad, Mac, and Apple TV:

Display and interface preferences (theme, poster size, card badges).
Home screen layout (your rows and their order).
Playback and subtitles preferences, including preferred audio and subtitle languages and subtitle appearance.
Image quality.
Hero and trailers settings.
Your watchlist, and watched and resume progress (via your server).

Kept on each device

These stay local so every device can have its own setup:

Default profile, so each device can sign in to the one you use there.
Network and streaming settings (Playback Mode and Maximum Bitrate), so a device on a slower connection can ask for less without affecting the others.
Platform-specific options, including hardware and decode settings.
Downloads, which are files saved to that specific device.

Apple TV

Apple TV adds one important local setting: Speaker Layout (Settings → Playback). It tells Zuno what sound system the Apple TV is connected to, which it can’t always detect reliably over HDMI. Leave it on Auto unless audio comes from the wrong speakers, then set it to match your system (stereo, 3.1, 5.1, or 7.1). This is per Apple TV and never syncs.

Mac

The Mac remembers its window size and position and reopens the way you left it. Like the other network and platform options, Mac-specific behaviour stays on that Mac rather than syncing.
