Getting Started

Zuno turns your personal media server into a cinematic playback experience on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac. Getting set up takes two steps: install the app, then connect your server.

Zuno is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.

  1. Open the App Store on your device.
  2. Search for Zuno or follow this direct link to install Zuno.
  3. Tap Get to install.

When you first open Zuno, you’ll be asked to connect a media server. Zuno works with Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby.

Plex is the quickest to set up. You just sign in with your Plex account.

  1. On the welcome screen, tap Continue with Plex.
  2. Tap Sign In with Plex. Zuno opens the Plex sign-in page.
    • On Apple TV, scan the on-screen QR code (or visit the URL shown) with your phone, then enter the code displayed.
  3. Sign in and authorise Zuno. Your Plex libraries appear automatically.
  1. On the welcome screen, tap Continue with Jellyfin.
  2. Enter your Server URL: for example http://192.168.1.100:8096.
    • Zuno also scans your local network and lists any servers it finds, so you can often just tap yours instead of typing the address.
    • You can leave off http://, it’s added automatically. If you can’t connect, try switching between http:// and https://.
  3. Once Zuno finds your server, enter your username and password (leave the password blank if your account doesn’t have one).
  4. Tap Sign In.
  1. On the welcome screen, tap Continue with Emby.
  2. Sign in with your Emby Connect account (the one you use on emby.media). On Apple TV, scan the QR code and enter the code shown at emby.media/pin.
  3. Choose your server. Zuno signs you in as your own user on it.

Not using Emby Connect? Choose Sign in with server address instead and sign in as you would on Jellyfin. See Connecting to Emby for details.

You can add more servers at any time later from Settings.

After connecting, Zuno walks you through a few optional steps. You can skip any of these and set them up later in Settings.

  • Zuno Pro: adds power-user features like downloads, integrations, discovery beyond your library, Zuno Live, and Screenings. Every picture and sound format plays on the free plan. You can start a free trial or continue with the free Basic tier. See Zuno Pro for what Pro adds.
  • Requests (Seerr / Jellyseerr): connect Overseerr, Jellyseerr, or Seerr to request movies and shows that aren’t in your library yet, each profile signed in as themselves.
  • Watch Sync (optional): connect Trakt, Simkl or MDBList if you also use them, under Settings → Zuno Connect.

Once your server is connected, your library appears on the home screen. Pick something and press play.

Next: see Playback to learn the player controls, or Troubleshooting & FAQ if something isn’t working.
