Picture in Picture

Picture in Picture shrinks whatever you’re watching into a small floating window that stays on top while you use other apps, reply to a message, or browse your library. It’s available on iPhone and iPad.

Starting Picture in Picture

There are two ways to shrink the video into a floating window:

Automatically, by leaving the app. While something is playing, press the Home indicator or switch to another app and playback follows you into a floating window. This is on by default.
Manually, by tapping the Picture in Picture button (the framed icon) in the player controls. Tap the screen once to show the controls if they’re hidden.

Controls

The floating window has the essentials built in: play and pause, skip forward and back, and a button to close it or return to Zuno. Tap the window to bring the controls up, and drag it to whichever corner suits you. Pinch to make it larger or smaller.

Tapping to return to Zuno drops you straight back into the full-screen player, right where the floating window left off.

Keeping audio going instead

If you only want the sound to carry on, that’s a separate option. Turn on Continue Audio in Background in Settings → Playback, and playback keeps going when you lock the screen or switch apps, without the floating window.

Settings

Everything for this feature lives in Settings → Playback:

Picture in Picture: turn the whole feature on or off. When on, Zuno enters Picture in Picture automatically as you leave the app during playback. On by default.
Continue Audio in Background: keep audio playing with the screen locked or another app open. Off by default.

Where it works

Picture in Picture is an iPhone and iPad feature. On Apple TV and Mac, use the system’s own windowing instead. It also needs to be supported and enabled at the system level, which it is by default on modern devices.
