Continue Watching & Up Next

Zuno keeps track of where you are in everything you watch, so you can always pick up where you left off and roll straight into the next episode.

How Continue Watching works

As you watch, Zuno remembers your position. Anything you’ve started but not finished appears in the Continue Watching row on your home screen, most recent first. Opening an item resumes from the exact spot you stopped.

For a show, Continue Watching follows the series rather than a single episode: finish one episode and the show moves along to line up the next one.

Progress syncs with your server, so where you stop on one device is where you resume on another.

Playing from the row

Tapping a Continue Watching card resumes it right away. If you’d rather open the detail page first, turn off Instantly Play in Settings → Home & Interface.

To see everything you’ve got on the go, open the full Continue Watching hub from the row. Items you haven’t touched in a while are gathered into a separate section there, so your main list stays focused on what you’re actually watching.

Up Next and the next episode

On a show’s detail page, the Play button already points at the right episode: it reads something like Resume S2•E4 or Play S1•E1, so you always know what you’re about to start.

While you’re watching an episode, an Up Next prompt appears near the end with a short countdown, then rolls straight into the following episode. To turn this off, switch off Show Up Next Overlay in Settings → Playback.

Next episodes in the row

On Jellyfin and Emby, the Continue Watching row can also include the next episode of a show before you’ve started it, so a series you’re partway through is always ready to carry on. If you’d rather the row only showed things you’ve actually started, turn off Merge Up Next into Continue Watching in Settings → Home & Interface (under Media Cards on Apple TV).

Shows you haven’t watched in a while drop out of the row on their own after about three months, so it stays focused on what you’re currently watching. On Plex this all happens automatically, with no setting to change.

Marking as watched or unwatched

You can set watched state by hand whenever the automatic tracking isn’t what you want:

On a film or show detail page, use Mark as Watched (or Mark Series as Watched for a whole show).
On an episode, use Mark as Watched Up to Here to catch the whole season up to that point in one go.
In the Continue Watching hub, Mark as Watched from an item’s menu (or swipe on iPhone) clears it from your list.

Marking something watched updates its progress everywhere, and moves a show along to the next episode.

Removing an item

To take something out of Continue Watching without marking it watched, use Remove from Continue Watching from the item’s menu in the hub, or swipe it away on iPhone. It disappears from the row but stays in your library, ready to start again any time.

On Jellyfin and Emby, this works for items you’ve actually started, the ones with a progress bar. A next episode you haven’t started yet can’t be removed on its own, because these servers have no way to hide it without changing your watched history. To clear one, use Mark as Watched instead, or turn off Merge Up Next into Continue Watching (see above) to keep next episodes out of the row altogether. On Plex, any item can be removed.
